    TITLE:Regional Public Health Nurse – 2 POSITIONS

    DEPARTMENT:City of Salem Health

    POSITION STATUS:Full time, 35 hours a week, position with benefits

    Grant funded through Public Health Excellence by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health; funding is expected to run through at least June 2027.

    REPORTS TO:City of Salem Health Agent or designee, North Shore Public Health Nurses

    SALARY:$1,304.24 per week

    JOB SUMMARY

    The North Shore Shared Public Health Collaborative (NSPHC) seeks candidates for the position of Regional Public Health Nurse (RPHN). The RPHN will provide clinical, programmatic and epidemiological support to build the capacity of participating municipal health departments from the cities and towns of Beverly, Danvers, Lynn, Marblehead, Nahant, Peabody, Salem and Swampscott.

    The position will be based in the City of Salem’s Public Health Department, under the management of its Health Agent. The RPHN will report to the NSPHC’s Board, comprised of the Public Health Directors from all eight participating communities, as well as working directly with the Public Health Nurses from these communities. The RPHN will work on a regional basis to backfill gaps in reporting on communicable and infectious diseases, programming and community health planning as identified by participating health departments.

    DUTIES

    The RPHN may carry out the following duties as assigned by North Shore public health directors and nurse leads:


    Provide case investigation and reporting of reportable infectious diseases, tuberculosis, and lead poisoning. Conducting home visits to provide maternal health screening through the North Shore Mother Visiting Partnership.

    Organizing and participating in immunization clinics and helping participating health departments maintain an on- going inventory of vaccines and reporting on their use to state officials.

    Supporting efforts for planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating the provision of comprehensive health services, including participating with co-workers in establishing priorities for service and in evaluating the effectiveness of service programs in terms of improved health status of individuals, families and the community as a whole.


    Assisting in the development and review of emergency response plans and helping manage operations of emergency dispensing sites.

    Continuing professional development by obtaining required continuing education units. Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Must possess a current and valid registration as a Registered Nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.

    One year’s experience as Public Health or School Nurse required, OR a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized school

    with a major in nursing may be substituted for the required experience.
