    Town of Dedham Job Posting Program Director Type: Full Time Salary/Pay Rate:$39.25/hour

    The Town of Dedham seeks highly qualified candidates for the position of Program Director to provide professional administrative and technical duties for the Town of Dedham’s community coalition to prevent youth substance use, Dedham Organization for Substance Awareness (DOSA) The position is supervised by the Public Health Nurse (who serves as the Authorized Organization Representative for the Drug-Free Communities grant) and the Health Director. It is a grant funded, non-union position.

    Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree and/or Master’s Degree in Social Work or Public Health
    • Three years of experience in human service or public health; or
    • Comparable private sector work; or
    • Any equivalent combination of education and experience
    • A valid motor vehicle operator’s license
    • Must receive an acceptable CORI/SORI report

    Knowledge, Ability and Skill

    • Knowledge of evidence-based substance use prevention strategies.
    • Experience working on community partnerships with diverse populations, youth development, community public health and substance use prevention.
    • Working knowledge of grant writing, budget preparation and grant management and reporting.
    • Experience in examining and applying research and science including knowledge of

    surveys and data collection.

    • Must be able to work independently.
    • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and new software programs as needed.
    • Ability to organize and maintain detailed and extensive records and prepare reports.
    • Strong planning and organizational skills.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to relate and communicate in a positive manner and deal tactfully and appropriately with the public, vendors, and town departments. Recognizes when communication should be referred to a supervisor. 
    • Ability to work effectively under time constraints to meet deadlines.
    • Available to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the coalition involving all activities, meetings, trainings, presentations, youth and parent surveys, and evaluation assessments. 
    • Facilitates coalition communication, data collection, research, and the distribution of materials to the community via media outlets and other engagement opportunities. 
    • Works with coalition leadership to plan and facilitate community coalition meetings and events. 
    • Coordinates daily and recurring grant compliance activities, reporting programmatic and financial requirements. 
    • Writes and submits annual Continuation grants.
    • Supervises the coalition’s Program Coordinator.
    • Serves as lead in identifying and evaluating existing policies within the community that address youth access to alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs (ATOD). 
    • Collaborates with coalition members and related agencies for ongoing assessment and evaluation of processes and initiatives. 
    • Coordinates training, events, and provides support to coalition infrastructure.
    • Attends trainings and meetings to keep abreast of local and national trends surrounding substance use prevention and public health policies. 
    • Assists with Health Department office coverage as needed.
    • Performs other similar or related duties as required or as situation dictates.
