Job Posting – Public Health Nurse
Reporting to the Public Health Manager, the Public Health Nurse provides mandated Board of Health functions, community activities, home visits, education in public/disease prevention in the Nashoba district. Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
• Conducts Communicable Disease Investigation reporting, surveillance and follow-up as required by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) utilizing the Massachusetts Virtual Epidemiologic Network (MAVEN) system.
• Provides individual and community education to promote health and wellness.
• Provides immunizations to community members via clinics, home visits and/or other organized local events.
• Addresses disease prevention, chronic disease management and harm reduction through ongoing individual and community assessments and targeted teaching.
• Collaborate with other municipal departments in the Health District such as the School Department, Council on Aging, and Public Safety on health issues.
The position is 40 hours, non-exempt, benefited position. The hourly range is $38.46 - $40.87.
- Minimum qualifications include successful completion of a certified RN nursing program, current licensure by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Registered Nurse, current certification in CPR, a valid driver’s license, and a minimum of 3 years relevant experience. Experience in community nursing and health education, along with a knowledge of public health is preferred. LPN considered based on experience.
